We decided to explore Golden Gate Park on Thursday since they were having a huge music festival Fri-Sun. It sounded like ACL to me.
We walked around Stow Lake. We fed the ducks and walked a little bit up Strawberry Hill.
We really enjoyed the California Academy of Sciences. I think we could have spent all day here.
They had a 90 foot diameter dome called the Rainforest of the World.
While we were walking up the levels of the rainforest, a docent started talking to us about a penguin named Pierre. Avery immediately told the docent that she read a book about Pierre in her 1st grade class. We quickly found out that Pierre was here at the CAS in the Africa Hall on the other side of the Academy. I was so excited that Avery had a connection here that we were unaware of.
After the rainforest, we went to the lower level to see the Steinhart Aquarium.
We left the aquarium sections to check out the penguins. Here is another docent sharing the book with Kendall. Pierre is very old and had just been taken back into his home to rest.
A quick version of Pierre: He started losing his hair/fur. A scientist created a wetsuit for him to wear. When he wore this wetsuit is helped my grow new fur.
Here is Kendall next to his wetsuit.
We almost went into an earthquake simulator but decided against it since we were getting hungry. Instead we checked out the swamp exhibit, reef lagoon, and more. We were not able to go into the Planetarium because Kendall was too young.
This place is amazing!
We enjoyed a picnic lunch by this fountain in the Music Concourse.
The girls got some energy out at the Koret Playground. We rode the Koret Carousel too!
On our way to Ocean Beach we stopped off to see the Dutch Windmill and Queen Wilhelmina Gardens.
We drove up to Twin Peaks. It was so clear that day. We were able to see pretty far. It was super windy and chilly. Can't you tell from their faces? They did just wake up. They fell asleep on the drive from the beach to the top of Twin Peaks.

For dinner that night, we just found a local joint in the Marina Greens area that we could walk to.
We did walk down and look at the water.
Can you tell it was then end of the day and everyone was getting silly??
Day two was so much fun!
The weather was cool and crisp!
